[Photoset: A series of photos featuring a Rule 63’d Black Canary cosplay with other 63’d DC Comics characters. In the first, he is being elbowed in the face by Batman. In the second he is shouting at the viewer while Green Lantern poses behind him. In the third he is holding Green Arrow on his shoulder. The third is a close-up of his face.]

Our Danny Lance only got to join the rest of the Genderbent Justice League for a couple of hours at WonderCon 2011, but United Underworld is really looking forward to seeing more of his pretty fishnetted chest this year!

    Superhuman Gender Roles. Instructor: Valkyrie

Valkyrie: Sleeping Beauty. Bridal magazines. “The Bachelor.” All oppressive tools of the patriarchy indoctrinating us to believe we need men to complete our lives. The truth, sisters, is that men will inevitably disappoint you. Intellectually, on the battlefield, and most of all… in the bedchamber.

Valkyrie: Many of the Valkyrior embrace a vow of chastity. It does wonders for focusing a warrior’s mind on what’s truly important: cleaving skulls. But I recognize it can be difficult especially for youths, to ignore the natural appetites of the healthy female body. I am pleased to report one need not turn to a male for satisfaction in this area. Mortal craftsmen have devised-
Tigra: VAL!! What are you doing? You’re supposed to be teaching them to fight!
Valkyrie: And so I am. To fight the oppression of the phallocentric society they live in.

    Avengers Academy #3

    Still the best class ever.

I need to buy this comic. Like, right fucking now. I love that redheaded girl’s costume.

  • yesterday was a day for superheroines. (today was a day to finish coloring Rogue.)

    in the relatively small amount of x-comics i’ve read, Frosty the snarky HBIC was always one of my favorite characters and i was… disappointed, to say the least, in the writers’ treatment + January Jones’ performance of Emma in XMFC. Rogue in the original trilogy could’ve been better, too, but it’s hard to hate Anna Paquin. ;w;

i was channeling Mark Brooks with her pose and then i realized i really hated her X-Men Legacy costume because seriously why do you need so many X’s on that thing the green cloaky one is better ‘cause it reminds me of Santa Claus

i wanted to draw more (Storm or Psylocke!) but then i ran out of drawing steam :c

Emma Frost | The White Queen.
A quick design, but the thinking behind it was: if she’s called The White Queen, why shouldn’t her costume be connected to that? With that in mind, I looked up a couple of Elizabethan outfits and went from there, while trying to keep it true to her origins as a member of the Hellfire Club.

After browsing several pages of Shi being abused by a wide range of artists at Escher Girls, I decided to Google the lady (as I had no idea who she was). And my friend Wikipedia told me she she haves potential to be a truly amazing character!
So I decided to redesign her just for the heck of it. I mean. Asian women are usually petite, right? Ok, she’s half-American, let’s make her a whooping 5”7’ tall (wich is freakishly tall for japanese women, as anyone who read Lovely Complex or Paradise Kiss can tell), but it’s just highly unlikely she’s going to be some kind of Barbie bimbo. And— GASP! I gave her PANTS! This is criminal!
I did this at 4 AM, with no visual refferences and based solely on what I thought would look cool and (maybe) plausible on the character. Plus, character design is SO NOT my thing. Imagine what a *real* artist could do with Shi. She could kick so much ass.
I also did a Wonder Woman, but there’s no way in hell I’m posting that one. Western comic books fans are scary

I stumbled onto this, and I think this is really cool! :D  I like the more practical clothing and hair!  (I also pine for awesome Asian American heroines, and wish Shi was more than just eye candy)  For the record though, I’m a 5’9” Asian girl and it’s not like I’m a giantess in my community.  I live in an area with a high East Asian population and I constantly run into women around my height and occasionally taller.  Still, I really like this concept. :)
